Mario Rutteli

A new painting is on the easel. It is a Fellini-like world with circus performers and a magic landscape. The worktitle is ‘Flying circus’, but that’s only a worktitle. The whole circus is spinning around Rutteli (Ingmar Ruttens) who’s standing model for this painting in one of his most astouning costumes. On top of the mountain in the background you will find the tower of the Great church of Breda on top of it. The beautiful lady in the foreground is Dorris Jonker. She was also my model in a earlier painting.

Een nieuw schilderij staat al weer op de ezel. ‘Flying circus’. Het wordt een Fellini-achtig werk met circusartiesten in een magisch landschap. Flying circus is een werktitel. Later kan dat nog veranderen in een titel die me tijdens het werk aan

dit schilderij wel te binnen zal schieten. Het hele circus draait om Rutteli (Ingmar Ruttens) die in een van zijn meest schitterende kostuums model heeft gestaan voor dit werk. Boven op de berg op de achtergrond staat de toren van de Bredase Grote Kerk. De mooie dame op de voorgrond is Dorris Jonker. Zij stond al eerder model voor een ander werk. Op de achtergrond zullen straks nog meer zwevende circus artiesten te zien zijn. Zij zweven allemaal rond Rutteli die kennelijk de regie heeft in dit bizarre tafereel.

At the end of a day painting and gardening I’m satisfied with the result. It’s a first layer of paint and three more layers will follow.

Aan het eind van een dag schilderen en tuinieren ben ik tevreden met het resultaat. Het is de eerste laag olieverf en er zullen nog zo’n drie lagen volgen.
