‘S-avonds laat schilder ik de derde en laatste laag lucht op ‘Weerzien in Giza’. – Late in the evening I finished the third and last layer of sky in ‘The Giza reunion’.

‘S-avonds kan ik kijken naar wat ik heb gepresteerd. Er staan twee werken in mijn woonkamer. Weerzien in Giza en het portret van Isabelle. Beiden zijn verzonnen karakters uit mijn boek. Links Louise Sparks, en rechts, haar grootmoeder, Isabelle Poncheau. En ineens zie ik dat mijn verhaal in beeld begint te komen. Twee generaties spookvrouwen. De schilderijen gaan straks ook een rol spelen in het verhaal. Het zijn niet louter en alleen illustraties voor het boek.

Late in the evening, I can watch my labour and progress in the serie of painings I did for the bookstory. Two generations Ghost women are visible now. Left Louise Sparks and on the Right her grandmother Isabelle Poncheau. Both paintings will play an active role in the bookstory. The paintings are not just illustrations, but wil play their own part in the story.
